The Story of an Angel

Lorrie, a very special cousin of Dave's, sent us a beautiful card that read, "When we share the beauty of the human spirit, we plant a garden of hope within every life we touch." Inside the card, she pasted this beautiful story which she had written:

One day God went to the angels' bullpen and said: "Who wants to go down to earth for a short time to be a baby? To be the child of two of my most beloveds? To show them the true meaning of selfless love and compassion? To help strengthen their faith, their knowing? To help them deeply understand that they are on their true life paths? To open their hearts? To allow them to trust? To strengthen their belief? To give them the opportunity to give and to receive? To let them feel their community? To let their community support them? To give them the opportunity to feel the full range of human emotions? To be my child in their care for a short time?"

The Angel of Hope and Love raised her hand. "Oh God, pick me, pick me! I can help them feel the love and compassion with grace and gratitude. I can help them open their hearts and souls. In return they will touch countless lives by sharing their journey and guiding others on theirs. I will help make them into the most blessed mother and father; the most blessed nurse and rabbi; the most blessed friends and teachers. They will be glorious in their joy and in their pain. They will inspire all those they encounter. They will carry your spirit and your gift profoundly and forever."

So God sent the Angel of Hope and Love to earth for a short time to be the most sacred teacher. One of pure hope and love. One that touched all that met her and her family. One that will continue to touch thousands of souls. Like the rings of water that ripple across an entire pond from a small stone, her gift of hope and love will bless all of those that hear her story and encounter her family. All of the patients that Gal touches and their families and friends; and all of the seekers, devotees and their families that Dave meets. Tikva's gift of hope and love will live on forever.
